Selena Anne Gomez was introduced to this world on July 22, 1992 in New York City, but raised in Grand Prairie, Texas. Playing Gianna on Barney was her first acting role. In a Disney national talent search, she was discovered by Disney at the age of 10. She landed a main role on Disney Channel's new show Wizards of Waverly Place after guest starring on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Hannah Montana.

Selena's best friend is Demi Lovato and they go way back to when they first started acting. Selena met Demi when Demi asked Selena if she wanted to color in the Barney audition lines.
